Man versus machine!
Men have become the tools of their tools. Henry David Thoreau. A couple hundred years ago before the Industrial Revolution we all worked at home. Since then we have invented tools that keep us away from home working in 50 story office buildings, auto factories and mass production facilities.
I'm not all that good with tools or with working in office buildings, auto factories or production facilities. I'm a terrible team player. I have too much shit going on in my mind.
I can't gather my wood firing crew at this time but that ain't going to keep the shit going on in my mind.
I have a Geil Computer kiln in my garage. I hate it! I hate the computer. I had a manually operated Geil for 10 years and 345 stellar firings, then I sold it, moved and got this kiln used. Have a problem with a computer operated kiln in a small town in Ontario and you got problems. The electrician won't work on a gas appliance and a gas guy won't work on a electric device. Thankfully the computer can be over rided and manually operated. Thank you Mr. K for walking me thru this procedure.
When I first got the kiln and the computer functioned I fired it 25 times that year then trouble hit. I've had the kiln 5 years and tomorrows firing is #45. I abandoned it for the last 2 years. This is a kiln valued at probably $30,000 Cdn sitting idol. Covid-19 has brought me back to it. Thank you, Andrew for your tutorial.
So fingers crossed the kiln will behave and I will nail some carbon trap shino. I used to banter back and forth with Malcolm Davis and I fingered I was pretty damn good at being a trapper.
I'm old enough to love a manual choke, toggle switches, a analog radio and yes I like a burner and a match. God they were the best of times.
