Well devoted readers thank you for 16 years of reading my blog. Some gooduns and some off the rail. All those bloggers when I started are long gone. I started this blog in 2007 when USU sent me to Jingdezhen, China to further my Mfa studies in the porcelain capital of China. I wrote the blog to keep in touch with my loved ones back in Canada. It was an instant success because China was sooooo interesting. Much more so than my sleepy town in Alymer, Ontario.
Times have changed and so have I. Blogs have been replaced by Instagram instant gratification and Gawd knows what else in social media that I am unaware of.
I spend half of my day preparing for or riding my bike. I see the sunset years setting in front of me and there are things and places I want to do and see.
The blog will remain open as I don't know how to shut it down and who knows I might have something I need to share.

I first started following your posts on Clayart, and we met when you were at USU (no idea if you remember). I don’t even do ceramics anymore because of a chronic disease but I think I’ve read the vast majority of posts over the years. My advice: don’t stop, just slow down a little. Sort of like your “some and some” philosophy.
I think I have your email somewhere, I’ll drop you a line sometime.

Perhaps more of us should start leaving a pebble in the pool when we call by (thanks to Zhoen of One Word blog for the idea)

Sad to hear you will be discontinuing your blog. I know how much work it is, but we dinosaur potters still enjoy hearing complete sentences framing intelligent thought. I also understand the desire to do and see other things. My day now starts with an hour of stretches and exercise before heading out for our 2 1/2 mile walk picking up trash in the Olmstead Park across the street from our home and studio. Some days I look forward more to that walk and the full trash bag than sitting down at the wheel, although pretty much every day I am still in the studio. So, we will just have to keep in touch via email or the phone, or gawd forbid, a visit. Wishing you all the best, and enjoy the wild west.
