This is Allison and Nina the two amazing bodies behind the making of the excellent Starworks clay bodies. This is damn hard work!!! Really hard working young women that smile as they toil. I shamefully admit I have heard it said that if you pay a woman the same money as a man___________ - well you can fill in the blanks. Thanks Allison and Nina for all your hard work at making such an amazing product.
The process of filter pressing is worth explaining. What Nina and Allison are standing beside is clay dug out of the fields here in NC.

The clay is slaked down and turned into a liquid slip. The slip is then pumped through a screen to take the stones and organic matter out of the clay. Now the clay can be pumped into canvas bags that are then pressed hydraulically to remove the excess water. Now if that ain't enough the large pancakes of clay are loaded into the pug mill and extruded to give us our beautiful clay wrapped in plastic ready to be lovingly used in our studios.
