Womanhood

Today March 8th is International Women's Day here in Italy. Women's Day is remembered in honour of March 8, 1857 when a strike by garment workers in New York led to the formation of the first women's union in the US. In 1945 the Union of Italian Women declared March the 8th, should be set aside to celebrate womanhood across the country.
On this day in Italy it is a custom to give the beautiful yellow mimosa to the women in your life. We had small bouquets of mimosa's on the lunch table today.
So to all the amazing women that have been such an important part of my life " Buona festa della donna!.  I will celebrate your lives with a glass of vino rosso tonight.
I send my love out to you all.
Sadly one of our students is leaving us tomorrow to go back to the US to be with her grand father that is now in hospice. Safe travels Vanessa . Our hearts go with you.
