Never Again!
Today while kicking around in my shop I came across this plate that had been returned by a gallery.
It was one of a series of plates I made, cut, handled, slipped with crack and glazed in understated ash glazes. I thought wow I'm glad to revisit this one plate. Not sure who bought or where the other plates went. I know this for sure. They didn't race out the door. I think some of my best pots take awhile to sell.
Some potters would take the return of a piece of work as a vote of non confidence. They wouldn't do that again, no,no! Call it ignorance or call it stubborness but that to me indicates I should repeat it.
I live in a suburban area. I doubt there is one house on my street and maybe 3 houses in the entire town that has one of my pots.It was probably a second.
I spent 35 years working for the marketplace. Probably my getting my old age pension however small it is let me off the hook of making stuff I wouldn't want in my own home. Sometimes my halo slips and I make some very colourful work with that "WOW" factor. It looks amazing coming out of the kiln and it is almost always the first to sell. It is not what I could live with in my house. Quiet, strong, gestural and marks of process are the buttons I like to push.

Australian council bans cats outside if they are not on leads.
Outdoors cats are skilled hunters, and are at risk of catching disease, getting into fights, or being killed by a car.
Hello Kitty.
The days of the friendly neighourhood feline roaming around freely in residential areas may soon be coming to an end.
"Cats have a devastating impact on wildlife populations," "There was an Environment Canada Study that was done where they looked at song bird mortality across the whole country, and the study concluded that the number one reason for the death of song birds in Canada was free-roaming cats."
About 90 municipalities across the country and a handful in the Greater Toronto Area have enacted similar bylaws, including Newmarket, Markham and Hamilton.

Cats are prolific predators of birds and small mammals.
Owners risk a fine of €500 if their cat is found roaming outside and could be slapped with a penalty of up to €50,000 if their pet injures or kills a crested lark. (1 Euro = 1 US Dollar)
A study in 2013 estimated that free-ranging domestic cats in the US alone kill around 2.4 billion birds.
The most recent figures from the Mammal Society say that cats in the UK catch up to 100 million animals over spring and summer, including 27 million birds.

Finally, like we didn't already know!
What an unholy mess and farce this all is.
Is this a government or a travelling road show?
The prime minister darts around like a summer fly, off to useless summits one day, on a European photo-op mission the next, drops in to Ukraine to pose with Madame Joly for the obligatory photo with the beleaguered Volodymyr Zelenskyy, flits back home for a while, off to Calgary, back to Nova Scotia (the quotient of apologies must be maintained), then on to Ontario for an EV announcement, and then off to a police-guarded lunch in Montreal.
Like we didn't know all along that he was an empty suit, a puppet!
Let it slip once a week, or at the least once a month.
