Bronze Medal

Thank you whoever or however you voted for my blog. I won the Bronze Medal. Gee, that and $1.30 will get me a senior’s coffee at McDonalds. In all seriousness thank you for lending me your ears or I guess it’s your eyes. I seem to have lost my voice with all this typing.  Don’t ask me why I sit down most days and write this thing. It has become a bit of a responsibility as I hear from my one or two followers if I don’t write anything for a few days.

My blog is not about “how to”. There seems to be a plethora of U-tubes on how to stuff. In my workshops I show you “how to” all the while talking about” why”.  When I look at the regular list of readers of my blog I can tell ya that many are loooooooooong past how to. Most of them have a bag of tricks full to overflowing with their on how to’s.  Perhaps I am just preaching to the choir. I write about why. Why a lot of things. Why we work, love, study, read, friends, and all sorts of things. I guess it’s because I really don’t know why and by writing this blog it gives me cause to think about it  I have this entire life of mine to try to figure all this shit out. Then sometimes I think I got it figured out and I’m either wrong, it changed or someone has a better idea. Actually I’ve only been wrong once. There was that time I thought I was wrong but I was actually right.

Greetings from the Redwood Coast in Far Northern California! There are probably more of us out here looking in from the Internet soup than you know. I really appreciate your insights and experience from a seasoned veteran of the studio pottery trenches. Some of your thoughts and strategies have helped me sustain my own studio practice. Many thanks to you and if I ever see you in person I'd love to pay it back with a better cuppa coffee than that. Best wishes to you in 2016 and keep on keeping on.

It's so good to know I'm not the only one struggling to figure it all out!
