Drawing outside the line

PS: “I want to be in the arena. I want to be brave with my life. And when we make the choice to dare greatly, we sign up to get our asses kicked. We can choose courage or we can choose comfort, but we can’t have both. Not at the same time.” (Brené Brown)

I posted the other day about scribbling outside the line. Agreed it ain't for everyone. Most prefer comfort and marketability. What I love about North American ceramics is the courage to step outside the lines.
I just spent a couple of days with my daughter Robin and grand daughter Ju-ju. Ju-ju is 4 and has been to rallies of protest, gay pride parades,  human rights conferences, women's rights protests and if I say anymore I'll get it all wrong. She is surrounded by interesting people, interesting art , interesting times and most of all interesting conversation that doesn't settle for the status quo.
Here are some puppets in Ju-ju's room. What chance does this kid have of growing up to be ordinary?  She has already at 4 travelled all across Canada, and as far as Portugal. She talked the other night about playing cards in Quebec City- WTF she is 4.

Tomorrow I head out on the road to Seagrove, NC my home away from home. I will have time to think about a lot of things. I am going to think about scribbling outside the lines. I've coloured inside the lines most of my life. I am due some Ju-ju time.
