Random Acts of Kindness

Today I received a gift from a customer, a collector, a friend, a kind individual. It came out of the blue. I picked up the package from the post office and it felt light so I thought oh Charles sent me a t-shirt. Much to my to gob smacking surprise I unwrapped a pot from the Mad Potter of Biloxi George E Ohr. To hold the pots of another mad man sent shivers through my body. Kindness isn't part of everyones DNA. I sent Charles a vase I had of Mary Bowron of Maryland. I knew Charles has a love on for Mary's work. I do too but Charles loves her more. It was only right for her to live with Charles. This inclusion of George Ohr in my collection means soooooo much to me. Another man that gave his life to clay as I have. This beautiful little bowl displays marks of process that I love to look at. Firstly the Mississippi red clay wadded in a wood fired kiln looks so beautiful. Inside the bowl are 3 stilt marks where he had inserted yet another pot. The lead glaze has a depth unequalled by frits and electric firing. Thank you Charles! I am humbled! I am gob smacked! I am grateful!. We must meet and clink a glass. Hugs, T

Even George Ohr could produce boring bowls.

Lacks that real George Ohr quirky inventiveness and style.
