Well, I’m here in Yixing and what’s got my attention- big stoneware pots. Out for a walk I ran across this pile of copper red planters. Is Tom Coleman in town? Did he fire them all in the same Geil kiln? I didn’t see a pile of duds anywhere so I’m assuming this factory has their copper red glaze and firings figured out. If ya like red here it is as thick as a candy apple.
I thought I’d take a pic of this ash glazed planter for my buddy Dick Aerni at home in America. Notice on the inside of the rim the direction of the glaze drips. I love the cut rim on this majestic octagonal beautie. I wonder how many guys it took to lift this pot and carry it up the hill to set it rim to rim in the lang yao (dragon kiln).
