There is a street one over from Food Alley that I call Diagonal Alley because it runs on a diagonal to the main street. This alley is everything and more than a Home Depot. There are dozens of little working shops where you can get anything made or fixed from axe heads to cotton shirts.
The lady at the corner is one of many cobblers that have these old sewing machines and retread your shoes for you. Here a pic of the motorcycle taxi of which there are thousands of and a mom and her son perched on back buying some sugar cane. Many of these work places are house and home. Monona R would have a heart attack if she saw the living environment. Food is prepared, clothes are washed and life is all contained in these little shops. A pull out bed will be used for some shut eye tonight. I like the strip of bamboo that will be wrapped around a big round table the carpenter is making.
